I’m glad you stopped by Managers of the Home. My name is Wendy and I can’t wait to get to know YOU!
Above everything, I am a child of God. I can not imagine doing life without Him to talk to, to lean on, and to get daily strength from. As I get older, I see the real importance of a meaningful relationship with Him.
I have been married to my best friend going on 32 years! We have 8 kids, ranging from 31 to 10! It’s almost like having 2 families since we have 5 older kids, 31, 26, 25, 23, and 21 and 3 younger kids, 13, 12, and 10. All the kids except the oldest two, still live at home and either work on the dairy farm with my husband or have another farming job. We are so fortunate because they stay connected and involved in each other’s lives.
As I said my husband is a dairy farmer, and we live in Amish Country, PA. We have been in the dairy industry all our lives, my husband grew up on a family farm and my Grandparents were dairy farmers. It’s very hard work for a very small amount of money. Since we decided long ago that I would be a stay at home mom we either make do or do without most of the time. You become more creative when it comes to groceries, budgeting, entertainment, and throw in a large family it gets even more difficult. But, I wouldn’t want it any other way.
We have been a homeschool family since our oldest son was 5 years old. We have changed our teaching over the years. We started out very structured, with a curriculum, desk, schedule…but as the years have gone on and our family grew, we have found we are more of an unschooling family. We teach what the kids need to know in life, the basics in academics and extra things that they are interested in. We try to make learning fun, and not take all day long to learn what is needed. We have always taught our kids that if they are interested in something, they should search and find out how to do it. If you have interest you will learn and remember things easier.
I have always been a crafty, and creative person. I love learning new things, but usually, have a hard time finishing one project before getting all excited about the next. I have my Mom and Dad to thank for my creative side. My Mom enjoyed crocheting, knitting, sewing, and cake decorating. My Dad is a woodworker and can make anything anyone would ever want. Now, I have Pinterest to thank for all my creative distractions, it’s one of the best sites ever! LOL 😉 You can learn anything on there!
Ok, that’s enough about our family, here at Managers of the Home I want to help encourage you where you are at. We all go through difficult days, days when the kids are screaming, you have no idea what is for supper and you only have a few dollars left in your budget (if you even have one) and it needs to last for another 2 weeks. Or you have a day when everything seems to be going right, but you don’t have anyone to share the great day’s events with.
You have a real friend here, come and get some encouragement, find inspiration, find a quick meal recipe, learn a new craft, and learn to enjoy life simply where you are at. And along the way, you might pick up some of my tips and tricks as we go through life together.
